pH control is closely tied to monitoring the acidity and alkalinity levels of many products on the market, which is why these products are so important.

Here are some of the main pH control products you can buy from Boreto & Cardoso.

1. Hydrochloric Acid

Hydrochloric acid is extremely strong and corrosive in its pure state at room temperature. In its gaseous form it has a yellow color and a pungent odor and can irritate the skin, mucous membranes and eyes. For this reason, always remember to wear protective equipment when handling it.

When it comes into contact with water, it becomes its aqueous form, the best known and most widely used one, found in the manufacture of many products such as PVC, pesticides, artificial silk, medicines and even laboratory reagents and other industrial products.

It can also be found for household cleaning, but as a diluted solution.

2. Sulfuric Acid

Sulfuric acid is a strong inorganic acid that is highly corrosive to organic compounds and abrasive to most metals. It is normally found as a colorless, odorless liquid with an oily consistency under normal temperature conditions.

It is used in the manufacture of fertilizers, batteries, explosives and even some medicines, among other products used in industry.

Sulfuric acid can be found in the air of urban centers and can irritate the eyes, nose, throat and airways. Always handle the product with the appropriate protective equipment.

3. Calcium Hydroxide

Calcium hydroxide belongs to the class of bases and can be used to manufacture many products obtained through a process called limestone calcination. At room temperature it is a white solid.

It is used in water and wastewater treatment as a flocculating agent and can also be found in the composition of many industrial products such as paints, plasters, mortars and other construction materials, in addition to its role in agriculture as a soil acidity corrector.

This product can cause irritation and discomfort on direct contact with people and must be handled with the appropriate safety equipment.

4. Sodium Hydroxide

Commonly known as caustic soda, sodium hydroxide is a highly toxic and corrosive inorganic base. It is found as a white solid and is highly soluble in water.

It is widely used for heavy-duty cleaning, but it must be handled with extreme care and with the appropriate safety equipment, as it can destroy living tissue and cause third-degree burns. It is also used to make soap.
