Today, June 5, is World Environment Day.

Here at Boreto & Cardoso®, the date comes with a feeling of continuity rather than of a campaign.

Throughout this week, we have shown the five pillars that have supported the way we work for 54 years: SDS, wastewater, MOPP, traceability and compliance. Today we want to talk about what these pillars mean in the context of ESG, and why "responsible chemistry" is neither a contradiction nor a slogan.

What ESG Means for a Chemical Distributor

ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) has become mainstream corporate language. For a distributor of chemical inputs, though, it has very concrete implications:

Environmental: the products you distribute have a direct effect on the environment, in production, transport, use and disposal. Environmental responsibility here has little to do with planting trees. It means making sure the SDS, COA and MOPP are in order on every delivery.

Social: a worker who handles a chemical without a complete SDS is at risk. A supplier that transports hazardous materials without MOPP (Brazil's mandatory certification for drivers of hazardous materials) puts entire communities along the route at risk. Social responsibility starts with correct technical documentation.

Governance: lot traceability, ISO 9001 certification, compliance with CONAMA (Brazil's National Environmental Council) and ANTT (Brazil's National Land Transportation Agency): these are the governance indicators any supplier audit will check.

The 5 Pillars in Numbers

An SDS with every delivery

More than 600 products. Each one with an up-to-date Safety Data Sheet, in line with ABNT NBR 14725 (the Brazilian SDS standard) and NR-26 (Brazil's federal standard for hazard signage and chemical communication). No product leaves without documentation.

36 products for wastewater treatment

Coagulants, flocculants, pH correctors, oxidizers and biocides. For electroplating shops, metalworking plants, industrial laundries, chemical plants and every sector that needs to comply with CONAMA 430 (the Brazilian resolution that sets effluent discharge standards).

100% MOPP on hazardous material deliveries

Every driver who transports products classified as hazardous holds a certified MOPP qualification. No exceptions, no false economies.

A COA for every lot on every delivery

A Certificate of Analysis issued for each lot, with full traceability of origin. Available for audit at any time.

ISO 9001:2015

A certification that ensures our internal processes follow international quality standards, from purchasing to the end customer.

Why This Matters to Your Company

More and more companies in the production chain are auditing their suppliers against environmental criteria. Exporters, large retail chains and multinationals already require their suppliers' suppliers to meet ESG requirements.

Working with a chemical distributor that does not deliver an SDS, has no MOPP and does not issue a COA for each lot is a risk that can derail contracts, audits and certifications.

Working with Boreto & Cardoso® means that part of the chain is taken care of.

What World Environment Day 2026 Leaves Us With

The global #NowForClimate campaign is a call for immediate action.

For industry, the most immediate action is this: audit the supplier chain against real environmental criteria. Not marketing. Not greenwashing.

Documented, traceable and verifiable compliance.
